Our Museum has priceless examples of clay pottery, glazed and unglazed, from all over India. Most notable are: clay pottery and toys in the Mohenjodaro tradition, maintained by the Muslim potters of Lahore (Pakistan) till 1954; clay figurines of Hindu deities Shiva and Paravti and allied figurines created by Himachal housewives for personal worship on the Hariyali teej festival in August-September; painted clay pots from Ramtirth near Amritsar in Punjab; and the remarkable glazed pottery from Sindh which is not widely known.
