Patakas Collection

Publications

Patakas are specimens of paintings executed by Tantrik sadhakas for personal worship. These portray the worshipped deity:Hanuman, Devi, etc. along with numerous yantras and mantras all over the pictorial space. No professional artists' help was sought in paintings these works of Rajasthani provenance, mainly from Jodhpur. An unusual portrayal of Hanuman by a Muslim sadhak stands out prominently: nowhere to be seen except in our collection.
